Communication that also matters – Identifying prejudice and stereotypes of vizual messages - International seminar

It will take place in Ljubljana, 13.-18.9.2010.

Invited: youth workers and designers, working in youth organizations from European countries.

We will try to find visual messages which provoke prejudice, stereotypes because of cultural diversity, solidarity, peace and tolerance of today complex society.

Main objectives of the seminar:

  • to increase participants sensibility of intercultural understanding and intercultural learning;
  • to teach the participants how to observe, see and feel messages from different visual culture directed towards the intercultural diversity and tolerance;
  • to empower participants to become more sensible and selective for visual messages;
  • to enable cultural exchange of different (national and international) visual messages to deepen knowledge and feelings of participants about their own culture and visual environment;
  • to enrich participants key competence as creativity, IKT, innovation, learning to learn competence.

The educational approach will focus on non-formal education. Learning will be based on using the resources of the group by learning from and with each other, mostly through experiential learning methods. There will be some theoretical and practical inputs, related to the meaning of visual sign, visual messages, prejudice, stereotypes and visual expression.
